Week 121: You're Watching The Watchers

Ever wonder how many editors are watching a particular article, or how many pageviews an article receives? If so, the "Number of watchers" and "Page view statistics" tools can be accessed by clicking on the "View history" tab at the top of any Wikipedia article. The former tool displays the exact number of page watchers (but only if there are 30 or more) and other key information, including general edit history statistics.

The "Page view statistics" tool allows you to view traffic numbers for preset or custom date ranges. You can enter multiple articles for comparative purposes, modify the chart type, create a permalink, or download the data. Feel free to tinker with other settings, but what's most important is the total number of pageviews for the specified date range and the daily average, displayed below the chart. It's pretty cool!
