Building an Instagram Presence
Cheeca Lodge is a long-beloved luxury resort in Islamorada, Florida, with a rich history dating back to the 1940s. The property already had a vibrant and dedicated Facebook community when we were tasked with manning their social media accounts. Many of their fans had been vacationing at the property for years. To allow a new generation of travelers to find Cheeca and fall in love, we turned to Instagram.
We started the account from scratch and began posting inspiring visuals of beaches and tropical scenes using #cheecalodge. We also developed signage for the hotel to encourage guests to follow the account and tag their photos. Consistency and high-impact content soon began to attract a younger demographic than we were seeing on other channels, but one that was just as passionate. In less than 9 months, Cheeca’s account had more than 1,000 followers and was growing at an average rate of 19% every month. Within a year, our engagement averaged 90 actions per post and Cheeca had a stream of more than 3,500 guest photos with the hotel’s hashtag, doubling what had been tagged previously.
